Owl Sage Board Game Club

The Hartington Board Game Club was established in October 2016 to bring together participants of any age for board games, card games, role-playing games, special tournaments and events, and more. In 2022 we expanded to meet in the nearby town of Wausa, and we’ve since expanded into the communities of Osmond and Randolph. We gather for year-round fun at each location! I share my own resources and experiences, and use my connections with comic shops, hobby shops, and other groups to provide regular gaming opportunities as well as coloring and creative writing contests for the communities. We draw participants from a 30-mile radius and sometimes beyond.

Some of our big events include Magic Academy, Spy Academy, Car Wars tournament, HeroClix tournaments, space- and pirate-themed events, and boffer-sword dueling. In 2019 I was asked by community leaders to host a large-scale game day on short notice for 60 district speech students who were stranded in town by a flash flood. I’ve helped with many Read Across America events at local libraries as well as summer reading program events.
